Solution for NIS 2006
This has been submitted by one of our esteemed visitor. Try and see if it also works for you.First of all, make sure that your copy of NIS 2006 is not having the activation problem. If it has, then reformat and reinstall it again. When you try to update the virus definitions using Live Update, uncheck all the things leaving only the Virus Definition Updates. Do not ever update the other components as it will overwrite the cracked files with the newer ones. You can safely update your copy forever.

Zone Alarm antivirus is not a good antivirus which comes with its security 2006 U can try Zone alarm pro with avast or bitdefender.I suggest u go for AVG or if protection is top priority then McAfee is worth some consideration
Thye antivirus which r not good r Pc-cillin, kaspersky and zonealarm,nod32.Do not ever install then in PC I have tried all of them i found McAfee and Norton r gr8.

Try Panda internet security 2006 it is the best software i have seen my life after Norton.McAfee takes too much CPU usage all the time even in my AMD Athlon 64 bit PC.Panda caught 3 viruses from my system which McAfee did not but Norton detected those viruses when i installed the norton in my other office laptop.It has Norton 2006 installed .Recently i have switched from McAfee to Panda.I have tried all the Security Suite and found that Only Norton And Panda And Zone Alarm r stable And Powerful but Zonealarm's antivirus is not good.These r my latest test reviews of Internet Suites.

Oh yes i have found the solution for NIS ACIVATION problem.The solution for the problem is to buy the original CD of NIS 2006 ,but that is one solution another one is just update ur virus definitions and this thing was said earlier also.In my case of solution the situation is different the solution.I applied the CDS crack on trial version of NIS 2006 and then used the original product key, and it is working also.No pop-up , no activation problems now.The product key which i inserted came with my Norton Internet Security 2006 original CD which i bought from symantec reseller.But just for checking i applied to cracked version and it is working, it means we need whitelist keys.Norton has been my fav. software so i bought this software.

Uninstall NIS
Uninstall Live Update
Delete C:Program FilesNorton Internet Security (if there)
Delete C:Program FilesSymantec (if there)
Delete C:Program FilesCommon FilesSymantec Shared
Start>Run and type %temp% and delete everything (unless it's being used)
Delete HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareSymantec
Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareSymantec
Reboot
Install NIS

Try to change only the first letter in the last part of the serial PJR67
P to any letter from a.....z
Reboot
Disable internet connection and try to activate. After it fails it will give you 2 options. Pick the phone one. In the space put all 0's except the last 3 should be 999 and click next.
After it's activated, close out of that window and wait for the main NIS window to come up. Close out of Live Update if it comes up.
Go to options for NIS and disable auto live update.
Run Live Update and uncheck the box for except "Norton Antivirus Definition Updates".

I do not think the 999 trick ever worked well i had tried this trick in 4 diffrent comps and all of them fail after about a months time, it seems that it works as if it is a trial version for one moth

Anyone knows if I just wanna update the norton virus definition (i.e. not security update...etc), how can I do it?
I disabled automatic live update, and updated manually, but it wouldn't give me the option to "uncheck/check" which components to update.
Ok, so according to Team CDS, there is no one that can make a keygen for nis2006 and enable us to update everything, just like nis2005? Just updating the nav def is not very good... Good luck!

Seems like there's no one out there capable of writing a little program for reactivation of NIS/NAV 2006.
Strange thing. And I always thought we had real cool crackers in the underground, who know where their towel is. Seems like I was wrong.
Symantec has won. The crack-underground has failed. No-one can crack Symantec's 2006 products. What a shame.

accually you can still download a working NON cracked version with the serial... no patch needed jus follow the activation instructions.. proplem with the patch is that the cracked files get patched by yahoo and start not to work thats why you get deactivated... when you install from a original cd.. nothin needs to be patched.. no cracked files to mess with... :)

Best thing to do is not to use any software from Symantec again, there are much better programs out there.
or just legally buy it
Here's how to re fix your product for a while.
1)OPEN UP NORTON PROTECTION CENTER
2)CLICK ON HELP AND SUPPORT
3)ACTIVATION
4) ENTER A NEW SERIAL
5) Press next, ignore the warning.
5)DISCONECT FROM INTERNET
6) FOLLOW THE ACTIVATION METHODS AS IN PREVIOUS POSTS (PHONE ACTIVATION METHOD)
Enter in 365 as last 3 digits.
It will work for approximately 1 week, for some people it works again permanantly.

I have had Norton Interent Security 2006 working fine for a few months, and I still have 2421 days left on my subscription.
I already had NIS2005 with the phone activation crack, and after I downloaded NIS2006 and Norton System works 2006 and did phone activation crack on both of them, and uninstalled and reinstalled both programs I discovered that NIS2006 works fine, but NSW2006 does not activate anymore.
I think you can set the date back to january 2006 and set the last 3 digit of the activation number to 365. after finish reboot and set back the date to today. It works for me.
ok all install a fresh installation of nis2006 disable automatic update and do not download norton resource update in live update. alternate replace a file called isste.dll in safe mode from the dir or cd in the symantec dir run the windows normally then click activate .this works fine this is all .works fine .

My Norton Internet Security 2006 is working fine after applying the crack. I can do all the live updates without a problem. The first 2 times I tried doing the 2006 crack it only worked for a few days, but I got it to work by using a Norton removal program, then reinstalling NIS2006 and NSW2006. NSW deactivated itself after a while and I uninstalled it but the NIS2006 works fine and I still have 2211 days left on my subscription. If you keep trying and persevere with the crack you will get it to work, trust me.
